Undergraduate

The Educational Programme

The Department of Psychology at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Bartın University, offers a four-year undergraduate programme comprising eight semesters. All students undertake compulsory core modules alongside elective and specialised modules. The compulsory modules required over the four years provide a broad curriculum covering the theoretical foundations of psychology, its key sub-fields, and the relationships between these areas.

Whilst compulsory courses ensure that students acquire fundamental knowledge and concepts relating to the science of psychology, elective courses support them in specialising more deeply in areas of their interest.

Our students take courses in areas such as developmental psychology, cognitive psychology, social psychology, clinical psychology, experimental psychology, psychopathology and research methods. Thanks to these complementary courses, our students complete the undergraduate programme as individuals who are proficient in both the theoretical and applied dimensions of the science of psychology, capable of critical thinking and conducting scientific research.

Furthermore, to prepare our students for diverse career paths, the programme also includes courses in statistics, ethics, and applied psychology.

Career Opportunities

When considering the employment prospects of Psychology graduates, the field represents one of the most advantageous sectors, particularly given the current and growing demand. Graduates of the Psychology Department can find employment in virtually any institution or field involving ‘human behaviour’ both domestically and internationally, depending on their specialisation. In addition to an academic career, they can work in the public sector at institutions such as the Ministry of Justice, the General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Centres, the General Directorate of Security, the Ministry of National Education, the Ministry of Health, the Social Services and Child Protection Agency, and the Ministry of Defence; in the private sector, they can find employment in areas such as human resources, the education sector, and psychotechnical assessment centres, as well as in hospitals, nurseries, special education centres and counselling centres.
